XM Satelite Radio buys WCS wireless

Posted: July 15, 2005 in XM

In a deal that shocked alot of people, including the NAB, XM has aquired privately held company WCS Wireless. Not alot is known about this company, except that they own the spectrum of bandwidth right next to the bandwidth currently owned by XM. Evidnetly this is not nationwide though, or is not known whether it is nationwide.

At any rate, XM plans to use the bandwidth for data and multimedia services, but that basically encompasses everything they already use the current bandwidth for, seeing as how even the music is sent in data packets.

Who really knows, they will tell us all later I guess 😉
